Tell My Mom...

How spirit may show up - from Akilah Dasilva

I was at a friend’s house for an essential oil party in 2020, right before the world was shut down due to Covid. About 20 women and I gathered in a cozy living room with our clipboards, ready to take notes. All was suddenly quiet as the presentation began and I was eager to learn about oils, but an incredible spirit saw this moment as his opportunity to introduce himself.

Immediately I saw a young male walk out from behind the presenter and sit down on the coffee table directly across from me. He appeared so clear and had this huge smile, one that emanated kindness and love. He continued to sit, so I looked around to see if anyone noticed him or me, but all gazes were to the front of the room. I took my clipboard and started taking notes as he communicated to me. He was wearing a blue hoodie, and took his hands to grab the material and pinch it, my symbol for “the color blue is important.”

I then asked him “who are you?” He answered me three times, and I heard what sounded like “Jamal.” The next thing he did is something I’ll never forget. He started playing the drums (my symbol for musician) and it was so loud I actually plugged my ears and couldn’t believe no one else could hear it.

I scribbled: “young male, blue hoodie, Jamal, and musician” on the back of my paper.

When the party was over I asked the host quietly if she knew anyone who had lost a young male, and to my surprise the answer was no. Who was he? Who was his family? I came home and stuffed my paper in a pile in the kitchen and didn’t think anything more about this until a few days later when Patricia (Joaquin’s Mom ) asked if she could share my contact with her friend Shaundelle.

Shaundelle reached out via text and told me she had lost her 23 year old son in a shooting. When she told me he was a rapper and musician, I ran and found my paper. His favorite color is blue, and his middle name is Jahmal. I almost fell over.

Her amazing son, Akilah had come to me 2 days before she ever reached out to let me know “My Mom is going to come to you and I am ready!” The next time I saw him, he was dressed up so handsomely, wearing a blue suit with a tie.

He smiled his huge smile and told me to “tell my Mom I dressed up just for her!"

This is written with approval from Shaundelle, Akilah's mom - she said to me, "I want the world to know he lives on".
